How long did it take before you realized that you missed the obvious?
by pistolpete inremember when the public speaker in the kingdom hall or convention related the ten plagues and the parting of the red sea?.
the finale when jehovah closes the red sea and swallows pharaoh's entire army of egyptian men.. when i was a little kid about 5 years old and listened to this story, i would think---wow jehovah is strong.
when i started school and started learning compassion as early as the first grade i started wondering?????.

When I started school and started learning compassion as early as the first grade I started wondering
As a kid I used to wonder:
If all the first born were killed, what happened to twins?
If the Egyptian army rushed into the dry river bed after the Israelites and were swallowed up by the water, who was left to travel all the way back to the City to report what happened?
I was told that if I wasn't careful, I'd think my way right out of the Truth.

JWs now in the movie business
by mickbobcat inso the cult is building movie studios and making films or propaganda d movies of jesus.
my question is how do they plan to make their investment back?
my guess is that they are hoping that this somehow brings in converts.

They could sell subscriptions to Armageddonprime or JWFlix and show nothing but their own videos.

Do you sometimes bemoan the LOST idea, or Belief, that Someone Powerful was going to set all things right?
by pistolpete inso it looks like about half of my jw relatives are not going back to the meetings once they open up the kingdom halls.
the main reason all of them give is that if we were truly living in the last days, jehovah would not have allowed the door to door preaching work, and kingdom hall meetings to stop for over a year.. the elders have talked to some of them and tried to convince them that letter writing is accomplishing the same thing as door to door, and zoom is the same as meetings-----------but my relatives just won’t buy it anymore.
just a note here, at first, the kingdom hall lock-downs, and the no preaching door to door was not that bad,the relatives still held on to their faith strongly because they believed it was temporary.

For most JW's, believing that a sky daddy is going to fix everything was a way to feel ok about copping out on life and not doing anything tangible in the here and now to help others. It gave them permission to feel virtuous about closing their minds and not seeking answers or asking questions anymore.
There was a mourning period once I fully let myself face the fact that I had spent my life engaged in magical thinking. They say that one should allow themselves 1 month for every year they were involved in or with the thing that they are mourning. For me that meant 50 months or 4 years would have to pass before I truly began to feel comfortable again. Little by little I was able to find peace and be emotionally strong without the world having to be perfect or by mentally resting on the the idea that most of mankind having to be destroyed in order for things to be normal.
These days, I'm simply taking a "wait and see" attitude about the "big picture". I figure that if there is a God and he/she has good things in store for mankind, there's no reason I shouldn't be a part of it as well. There's no reason that I should receive the same fate as Joseph Stalin, Adolph Hitler, Ted Bundy and all the mass murderers and the various human monsters that have walked the face of the earth, simply because I stopped attending those mind numbing meetings at the Kingdom Hall.

Mormons have resumed calling in our neighborhood, wearing masks and standing back from the door as they do their presentation. Since the beginning of covid, lot of the churches around here have been meeting in outdoor marquees or listening from their cars as the program is done in the parking lot.

If God loved the world so much, Why hasn't Jesus told the 'Slave' about Nebulized hydrogen peroxide?

If god loved the world so much why hasn't Jesus told the slave about Nebulized Hydrogen Peroxide
I'm not sure why you'd ask that question but I'd say it's probably for the same reason he hasn't told them what causes or how to deal with cancer, birth defects and the myriad of other afflictions that come upon humans. If he even exists, we (including the JW's) are left to figure these things out on our own.
In the meantime, nebulized or vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide is beneficial as a sterilant but like any medical treatment, it's levels must be monitored precisely and can play havoc with electronic hospital equipment and overexposure to hospital staff and the patient can occur .

"New light": how and when did this idea start?
by psyco inhow and when did the "understanding" of the progressive ("new light") understanding start?.
anybody knows?.
thanks!.
-
Pete Zahut
I was just wondering if anybody knows how and when it became a "belief" or a "doctrine"...
JW's have been altering their understanding of the Bible since the late 1800's and have continued down to our day. "New Light " isn't a doctrine, it's a term they've always used to refer to and or justify why they they change things.

Would the world be a better place without religion?
by pistolpete ini know what you’re gonna say---------everyone has a right to believe whatever they want.. but the question above is not about everyone’s right to believe whatever.. the question is very specific------will the world be a better place----without religion.
think for a while what the world would be like without any religion.. no conflicts between islam and christianity.. no conflicts between different sects of christianity.
(example; jehovah’s witnesses vs catholics).

Would the world be a better place without religion?
Perhaps the question should be "Would the world be a better place without religious fanatics?" Individuals who are too over the top about anything, create problems for everyone around them. Those who are able to quietly follow some sort of structure in their lives without forcing it on others or punishing them for not believing as they do, seem to do very well compared to those who are left to their own devices.

by Jofi_Wofo ini know that all of the assembly/convention attendant training videos have been leaked publicly, but has anyone gotten a hold of the parking training videos?.
i saw these about a year and a half ago, when i was still pimo.
as bizarre and manipulative as the attendant video series is, the parking videos put them to shame.

I remember the Tacoma dome parking scandal. I did not like the way they have you park you car.
I was at a JW family gathering last week and someone was talking about zoom meetings and how there wouldn't be a District Convention this year. A non JW family member began laughingly reminiscing about an incident he created when his JW wife convinced him to go to the Tacoma Dome for an assembly. The JW family, looking nervously from one to the other, listened to his tale.
This guy is around 40...a nice guy...very tall and stocky, a bit rough around the edges, has a booming voice and is not at all shy. Despite his macho appearance, he has a bit of claustrophobia. Consequently being in a crowd makes him nervous. He purposely sat on the aisle and put books on the seat beside him so that he'd have plenty of room around himself. After the 1st session was over he went out to stretch his legs and when he returned to his seat, a sister had moved his books and was sitting in the extra seat he had next to him.
Him: What the hell are you doing lady ??
Her: (not accustomed to being called out like this at an assembly) "I noticed during the last session that you have two seats so I'm sitting here now since you're not using this seat."
Him: Like hell you are...you moved my belongings put em' back now !
The embarrassed JW wife intervened and explained to the offending "Sister" that her husband isn't a JW. The JW woman dutifully scurried off, not wanting to stumble an unbeliever.
The second session began and the JW wife who has M.S. started having medical issues. They rushed her out to their car but it was completely blocked in because of the way they had parked everyone end to end. When the Parking Attendants arrived they expected a compliant JW who would call a cab or ride in the back of the Janitorial van one of them offered. Instead the non JW raised holy hell and told the attendants that he paid to park there and since they parked him in this crazy way, that he expected them to have a backup plan. He told them he was calling the cops and a tow truck if they didn't figure out a way to get his vehicle out in the next few minutes. Fortunately for them the attendants recognized the surrounding vehicles and were able to locate the owners and get them moved.
It never occurs to them that the directives they get from headquarters might not work in every situation. Nevertheless, I'm sure at the next Parking Attendants meeting, instead of coming up with a less dangerous (and less profitable) parking situation, they discussed how to deal with non compliant people of the world.

drop children? it is like dropping the anker. these are ankers. to which parents can winch themselves in
Assuming you meant an anchor such as the ones found on a ship, I agree...this gives them an "in". After all, in America, any law can be broken so long as there are enough people doing it and you don't have anything of value for them to go after. Regular citizens with jobs and homes are an easy mark. Even when they accidentally commit so much as a minor infraction, they'll receive the full brunt of the law. Building a beautiful deck on your home without a permit would be a major infraction and you'd pay dearly but sneak into the country and hire someone to throw your kids over a 15'wall and you'll get welfare and free healthcare.
